Logline

Under the northern sky a couple learns the rules of a new relationship. FIfty-year-old Petri has faced his bisexuality and needs to fulfil his passions while Anu in turn questions her own expectations in a relationship.

Synopsis

The couple’s fresh relationship leans on openness and honesty. FIfty-year-old Petri has faced his bisexuality and is learning to be truthful to his partner and himself. For Anu Petri’s desire to fulfill his own passions raises new questions about her own desires and expectations in their relationship.

Beneath the vast northern landscape is a hidden world of men, which they have tried to keep secret from their spouses, the surrounding community, and, to some extent, even themselves.

 

Director’s Profile

Markku Heikkinen is an award winning documentary film director and screenwriter who has made more than twenty feature and short films. He graduated as Master of Arts in ELO Film School in Aalto University majoring in Documentary film 2006 with best ratings. Heikkinen is an active social debater and has worked also as a freelancer journalist in numerous radio- and tv-shows in the National Broadcasting Company YLE from 1984 to 2013. He worked as a screenwriter for Ruthless Times- Songs of Care (dir. Susanna Helke, 2022). His film No Road Home won the prize of critics and also the audience award in Docpoint Helsinki Documentary film Festival. He received a Cinema State Prize in 2015.

Company Profile

Hannu-Pekka Vitikainen has a strong reputation in the Finnish film business, earnt through his distinguished work as a cinematographer. He graduated BA in ELO Film School in Aalto University majoring in cinematography 2003. He’s worked with Finland’s most talented directors on award-winning films including IN THE SHADOW OF THE HOLY BOOK (IDFA Main competition), EMERGENCY CALL (IDFA Masters series). HP’s reputation has extended to international co-productions which has created a strong network of contacts.

He produced GODS OF MOLENBEEK, which screened in more than 60 international film festivals including Hot Docs, Visions du Réel, Dok.fest Munich, Gothenburg IFF, Thessaloniki IFF, DocPoint.
