WEMW opens submissions for the 2027 CO-PRODUCTION FORUM and introduces EURIMAGES AWARD
Ahead of its 17th edition, set to happen in Trieste on January 17-19, 2027, WEMW is thrilled to open the call for its international Co-Production Forum, which will see the selection of 20 projects in development – including narrative features, creative documentaries and short animated projects – from all over Europe and beyond, with a special attention to the 2027 East & West spotlight countries: Poland & Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands.
WEMW is looking for powerful stories and new upcoming talented voices, with a clear goal of securing a 50% quota to first-time directors in the final line-up and becoming a unique place of authentic discovery.
All selected projects will be pitched in front of more than 600 decision makers and professionals from over 60 countries, followed by two days of one-to-one meetings and networking opportunities to seal new financing and artistic partnerships.
Highlighting its key role within the European audiovisual ecosystem, WEMW is proud to announce the brand new Eurimages Co-production Development Award, a cash prize of the value of 20.000€ designed to provide financial support to international co-productions – strengthening the creative exchanges that lie at the heart of the European film industry.
Alongside this exciting new partnership, the Co-Production Forum will continue to grant a series of core awards, thanks to the continuous commitment of our long-standing partners.
All projects will compete for the CICLIC WEMW Award (granted by the French Centre-Val de Loire Region), a cash prize of the value of 5.000€, alongside other major awards including the EAVE Producers Workshop Scholarship, the Pop Up Film Residency Award, the Marché du Film Producers Network Badges, the DAE Talent Development Prize, the EWA Network’s Award for Equality & Inclusion, the Taskovski Film Training Award, the GoGo2025 Residency Award and the CEE Animation Award.
Over the years WEMW has served as a springboard for numerous projects into major film festivals and international acclaim. Remarkable success stories range from award-winning narrative feature films and creative documentaries to animated shorts, such as Lamb (Prize of Originality – Festival de Cannes – Un Certain Regard), Slow (Directing Award – Sundance Film Festival), Small Body (European Discovery – European Film Awards), Brotherhood (Golden Leopard – Filmmakers of the Present – Locarno Film Festival), To Hold a Mountain (World Cinema Grand Jury Prize – Sundance Film Festival), Holy Destructors (Best Director – IDFA) & Cosmonauts (Berlinale Shorts).
The call for the Co-Production Forum – open until Oct 10, 2026 – officially kicks-off the upcoming edition of the market, with a new round of calls set to open in mid-September for all WIP sections, Inspirational Labs, EAVE Slate and Films X Games Connection Hub.
