WEMW Co-Production Forum Line-Up Revealed! 22 compelling stories from all over the world are getting ready to step into the spotlight of our 16th edition
After a careful selection process covering a pool of nearly 500 submissions, we are finally ready to unveil the complete line-up for this year’s Co-Production Forum, a gripping selection of 22 projects set to have their official showcase next January in Trieste.
This year’s line-up includes 11 live action features, 9 creative documentaries and 2 animated shorts coming from 18 countries. All the selected projects will get their chance to be pitched to more than 600 decision makers and film professionals from over 60 countries, leaning into a constellation of new connections and opportunities.
A journey across time
This year’s selection will walk us across different times and places, weaving together past wounds and future challenges in a unique set of stories that deeply resonate with our present day – confronting bias, navigating inner conflicts and finding a way through an ever-shifting reality.
As in past editions, we will be joined by a compelling mix of directors from various countries and backgrounds such as Biennale College Cinema alumni Anita Rivaroli (Orange Peel, 2024 selection) and Silvia Brunelli (La Santa Piccola, 2019 winner), Cristina Groșan, returning to WEMW after her successful Ordinary Failures – awarded as Best Director at Venice Film Festival 2022, Alireza Ghasemi, presenting his first animated documentary film after receiving the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2024 for his debut In the Land of Brothers, Sander Joon, shortlisted at the Academy Awards 2023 with the animated short Sierra and now introducing one of the two animated projects of this year’s line-up, Vasile Todinca, debuting with his first feature film following the selection of the short film Alișveriș at the 2025 Cannes Critics’ Week, last but not least, Sara Fattahi, winner of the Golden Leopard Filmmakers of the Present at Locarno Film Festival 2018 with her debut Chaos and now developing her new feature.
Prizes and Awards
All 22 projects will have the opportunity to compete for two 5.000€ cash prizes: the Film Center Serbia Development Award and the CICLIC WEMW Award (granted by the French Centre-Val de Loire Region).
Thanks to a reliable network of partners, the WEMW Co-Production Forum will also feature a series of other major awards, including the EAVE Producers Workshop scholarship, the Marché du Film Producers Network Badges, the DAE Talent Development Prize, the Pop Up Film Residency Award, the GoGo25 Residency Award and the CEE Animation Award. Moreover, all female identifying directors will be eligible for the EWA Network’s Award for Equality & Inclusion.
