A woman dreams of the highest office, in a country where power still wears a suit.
Synopsis
In an extraordinary Rural Housewife Circle in Masuria, each woman is a boss. When the founder of the Circle decides to break through the glass ceiling of a heavy patriarchal system and embark on a political career, all the ladies begin to wear pink.
Director’s Profile
Nobis’ first feature film POLISH PRAYERS (2022) premiered in the LUMINOUS section at IDFA, had its Swiss premiere in the Opera Prima competition in Solothurn, and has since been screened at over twenty festivals worldwide, including Locarno (Panorama), CPH, DOC NYC, and many others. In 2023, Hanka Nobis was awarded the Zurich Film Award for Best Director for this film. POLISH PRAYERS was supported during its development and production phases by the Federal Office of Culture and Zurich Film Funding. SRF, RTS, HBO Europe, and MDR/ARTE are co-producers. At the moment, Hanka Nobis is deeply engaged in the research for her second film, PEARLS (working title).

Run by Esther van Messel since 1998, First Hand Films is a producer and a sales agent of documentaries, and a theatrical distributor for fiction and non-fiction in Switzerland. Recently, the company initiated the streaming platform GO! SEE STORIES for schools, museums, and organisations. First Hand Films has (executive) produced dozens of international documentaries and made them seen by hundreds of millions of people.
