Logline

Psychological thriller about all-consuming love and revenge, set in a Nordic jungle where three women collide — along with their desires and their rage.

Synopsis

Katrin, a devoted mother, secretly believes she caused a tragedy in her sister Mari’s family. Unable to face the truth, she remains silent, trying to suppress the guilt. But the event forges a strange, unsettling closeness between the estranged sisters, unearthing buried tensions and long-hidden secrets. As Katrin becomes Mari’s only support, she slowly loses her own sense of self.

There Is No Me Without You is a haunting emotional journey into the weight of guilt, the cost of forgiveness, and the limits we’re willing to cross to rebuild a life. Katrin’s silence makes her both protector and judge—forcing a confrontation with the fragile line between humanity, justice, and truth. The film invites the viewer into a tense and layered narrative where guilt, grief, and moral ambiguity intertwine in unexpected ways.

Director’s Profile

Janno Jürgens was born in 1985 in the small Estonian fishing town of Haapsalu, the youngest of four siblings. He graduated as a director from the Baltic Film and Media School in 2012. His short film Distance premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and sparked his interest in the theme of intergenerational differences and similarities, as well as the question of whether it is possible to break free from the chain of predetermined destinies. Later projects explored this theme in various ways, including the medium-length film They Say Tomatoes Love Rock Music (2016). His debut feature film Rain was completed in 2020 and focuses on the relationship between brothers set against the backdrop of father-son conflicts.
