Author’s Note
In my childhood, with two full time working parents, I was often taken care of by my my grandfather, an old polish immigrant who came to France with his family to teach chemistry at the university. I remember the long hours drives with him to go from Paris to Lille, and the endless discussions we had about life, about nature, science, etc… Now that I have grown up, I can only fully appreciate how his teachings have shaped the way I perceived the world. Honey of War is a story of transmission of knowledge, human connection and coming of Age. The initial idea was an abstract image: the chaos of a destroyed environment in contrast with the harmony and balance of a bee hive. Another aspect was that we wanted to make a road trip movie, to have our characters tiny in huge landscapes and the bees tiny compared to our characters.
