A total of 22 projects from 29 countries were pitched, 12 of them fiction feature films and 10 documentaries. Two new initiatives dedicated to films in the postproduction stage were launched at the 5th edition of WEMW, Last Stop Trieste (LST), a work-in-progress section for creative documentaries organized in collaboration with Trieste Film Festival, and First Cut Lab (FCL), a programme designed for long feature fiction films in the editing phase.read more

The event will take place in Trieste from the 18th to 20th of January and will represent a unique opportunity to meet funders, commissioning editors, sales agents, distributors and producers, in particular from Eastern Europe, Italy and – only for 2015 – from English speaking countries: UK, Ireland, Canada and USA. Trieste Film Festival and WEMW announce a new work in progress section: LAST STOP TRIESTE (LST), a dedicated section for documentary projects from Eastern Europe and Italy. Thanks to a strong network of partners, LST will present 4 documentaries in advanced editing stage previously developed either at Ex-Oriente Film , BDC Discoveries by Balkan Documentary Center, Docu Rough Cut Boutique in Sarajevo or presented at the previous editions of When East Meets West.
The call for entries together with the application form will be directly sent via email by the four partners to their former alumni.
Selected documentary fine cuts will be screened to an exclusive panel of international sales agents, festival programmers and TV commissioning editors with the aim of enhancing their potential of being selected in top festivals and their chances of distribution and broadcasting. An international jury will deliver the special HBO EUROPE award to the best project.
LST will take place alongside the Trieste Film Festival and When East Meets West on January 19/20, 2015. The programme will be directed by Rada Sesic (Sarajevo Film Festival) and coordinated by Anette Dujisin (Trieste Film Festival) and Alessandro Gropplero (WEMW).
LST is organized by the Trieste Film Festival and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, with the support of Creative Europe, CEI – Central European Initiative and the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
