Focus 2012: the Nordic Countries
WHEN EAST MEETS WEST will bring together 20 selected producers with one project in development suitable for an international co-production coming from East Europe, Italy and only for the 2012 edition Nordic countries.
The deadline for project-entry is November 25, 2011.
All applications must include:
– approx. 5 – 8 page treatment / exposé in English
– director’s notes of intention
– financing plan
– producer’s CV
– CV of the writer and (if already attached) director
– company profile and track record
All documents must be in English and must be sent via email before November 25, 2011 < email@example.com
Eligible are projects by producers based in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, and only for the 2012 edition from Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden).
Projects should be feature films or documentaries in development with a potential for an international co-production, preferably with a minimum of 20% of the budget already in place. Even though there are three main areas involved (East Europe, Italy and Nordic countries), producers can apply with projects suitable for a co-production between at least two of these regions. That means that Nordic producers might look for partners or in East Europe or in Italy, Italian projects might be suitable for a co-production or with East Europe or with Nordic countries, and finally, Eastern European producers might wish to co-produce their projects or with Nordic countries or with Italy.
Selection will be done in collaboration with EAVE by December 12, 2011. EAVE experts will evaluate the applicants on several criteria: producers CVs, company track record, potential of the treatment and international dimension of the project. If a project is selected, WEMW will invite the producer to present the project in the pitching session at Trieste and WHEN EAST MEETS WEST will offer up to 4 nights of accommodation and will reimburse travel expenses.
Selected producers will have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of an international industry audience (potential co-producers, commissioning editors, sales agents, distributors, representatives of film funds and financiers from both geographical areas) in the framework of a closed pitching event.
The pitching time for each project is ten minutes. The public pitching will be simply divided in two sections: the first part will be dedicated to feature films, the second part to documentaries. Pre-scheduled individual meetings at the following day will offer opportunities for detailed talks between the representatives of the projects and potential co-production partners.
Selected producers will have the chance to meet individually a large panel of decision makers and film experts from both regions.
